What’s happening in AI -

Meta is creating a new AI team to develop tools and experiences such as AI personas, text and image-based chat experiences, and multi-modal experiences. Ahmad Al-Dahle, Meta's VP of AI and machine learning, will lead the team. Mark Zuckerberg said the company has a lot of foundational work to do before creating futuristic experiences, but he is excited about the possibilities. Meta also recently announced its AI language generator, LLaMA, geared toward researchers. Meta's AI chatbots, Galactica and Blenderbot, were launched earlier which wasn’t impressive. However, it’ll still be interesting to see how Meta improves on and incorporates AI features within each app.

Snapchat has launched an AI chatbot called "My AI" for its $3.99 per month subscription service, Snapchat+. The chatbot, running on OpenAI's GPT technology, has been customized by Snapchat for its users, offering services such as gift ideas and dinner recipe suggestions.

The chatbot will be pinned to the top of the Chat tab, and conversations with it will be stored and may be reviewed to improve the experience. Snapchat warns that the chatbot may make mistakes and is not to be relied on for advice, and has been designed to avoid biased, incorrect, harmful, or misleading information.

Google may be planning to integrate its photorealistic AI model, Imagen, into its popular Gboard keyboard app for Android, according to reports. Imagen uses AI to convert textual prompts into photorealistic images and comprises a text encoder, a text-to-image diffusion model, and a resolution-enhancing diffusion model. Although the AI model isn't publicly available yet, Google promises to ensure safeguards are in place before Imagen rolls out to the masses. The AI integration could offer Gboard users even more creative expression options, but the technicalities and potential misuse of the AI could delay its implementation.
