Apple might be handing Siri a brain transplant powered by Google’s Gemini AI, according to Bloomberg. After multiple delays pushed Siri’s big upgrade to 2026, Apple is reportedly testing both its own models (codenamed Linwood) and external ones (Glenwood), with Google already training a custom version for Apple’s servers. They’ve also chatted with Anthropic and OpenAI, with ChatGPT already sneaking into Siri for some answers. A final decision is still weeks away, but if Apple goes external, iPhone users might finally get the smart, capable Siri they’ve been waiting for.

Alibaba’s Qwen team just dropped Qwen-Image-Edit, a 20B open-source image editing model that’s basically Photoshop powered by AI. It can handle both big-picture stuff like rotating objects or switching art styles and super-detailed edits like fixing one letter’s color without touching the rest. The coolest part? It edits Chinese and English text directly in images while keeping fonts and formatting intact. You can stack edits instead of restarting every time, making complex fixes way easier. Benchmarks show it beating rivals like Seedream, GPT Image, and FLUX, which makes it one of the strongest editing models out right now. Long story short—image editing just leveled up big time.

Grammarly just leveled up with eight new AI agents inside its new Docs platform, making it way more than just a grammar checker. Think AI Grader for feedback, Reader Reactions to spot confusion, a Plagiarism Checker, and even an AI Detector to tell how “human” writing looks. Add in citation help, proofreading, paraphrasing, and expert reviews, and you’ve basically got an AI-powered co-writer. Most tools are free, but plagiarism and AI detection sit behind the paywall.

Meta just hit the reset button on its AI game, scrapping its AGI Foundations team and reshuffling everything under Alexandr Wang. The new setup splits into four groups—research, training, products, and infrastructure—with Wang holding the reins (and even Yann LeCun now reporting to him). A hiring freeze is also in place, meaning no new AI hires without Wang’s personal sign-off. There’s even a new “TBD Lab” for frontier AI experiments and “omni” models. After a wild summer of poaching talent, Meta’s clearly shifting gears from hiring spree to tightening control.

OpenAI says it’d totally be down to buy Google Chrome—if the courts ever force Google to sell it. The comment came during a major antitrust trial where the DOJ is trying to break up Google’s dominance in online search. Google’s not having it, insisting Chrome isn’t up for grabs and calling the lawsuit bogus. OpenAI previously tried partnering with Google (no luck), and now it’s riding with Microsoft and Bing. Meanwhile, Google’s flexing Gemini, and OpenAI might even be cooking up its own social network. The AI wars just keep getting juicier.
