Google’s plan to catch ChatGPT is to stuff AI into everything.

Google is pushing to catch up with OpenAI in the field of generative artificial intelligence (AI), which has led to anxiety among current and former Google employees who are anxious that the company may be falling behind.

According to sources, Google has declared a "code red" that stipulates all important products should incorporate generative AI within months. Google's co-founders have also become more involved in the company, and management has encouraged the testing of AI tools internally.

In March, Google announced that creators on its YouTube video platform would soon be able to use the technology to swap outfits.

A recent study demonstrates that AI can read brain scans and recreate largely realistic versions of images a person has seen, using an algorithm called Stable Diffusion.

The researchers added additional training to the standard system by linking additional text descriptions about thousands of photos to brain patterns elicited when those photos were observed by participants in brain scan studies. The AI algorithm makes use of information gathered from different regions of the brain involved in image perception, such as the occipital and temporal lobes.

While the algorithm struggled to recapitulate objects from the real photo, the researchers circumvented this issue by harnessing keywords from image captions that accompanied the photos in the data set.

This will create an overwhelming amount of content, relying on user surveillance and analytics to improve "stickiness."
