OpenAI is testing ads inside ChatGPT, marking a potential shift from its ad-free experience to something more like Google Search. The beta Android app hints at “search ads” and “bazaar content,” which could let ChatGPT show highly personalized product suggestions based on what it knows about users. For now, ads seem limited to search, but that could expand later. With ChatGPT handling billions of prompts a day and growing to 800 million weekly users, the platform has everything it needs for ads to take off. This could shake up the web economy big time.
Harmonic’s AI system Aristotle just cracked a 30-year-old Erdős problem in six hours, then verified the whole thing in Lean in a minute. The team is calling this the start of “vibe proving,” where AI explores ideas and locks them down with machine-level rigor. This comes right after Harmonic’s $120M raise and Aristotle’s IMO gold flex, putting it in the same league as Google and OpenAI for math reasoning. The big deal here: we’re inching toward mathematical superintelligence, where anyone—not just experts—can tap into tools that solve and verify insanely complex proofs.
DeepSeek just dropped Math-V2, an open-source model that basically matches IMO gold-level performance and even beat top human scores on the Putnam. It solved almost all the IMO 2025 problems and crushed other models on proof benchmarks, including GPT-5. The trick is a generator–verifier setup that forces the model to self-debug every step instead of just chasing final answers. By open-sourcing something this strong, DeepSeek just blew open the gates on high-level mathematical reasoning. This could seriously change how engineering and research handle complex, high-stakes problems.
OpenAI says its analytics vendor Mixpanel got hit by a security incident where an attacker grabbed some API users’ profile info like names, emails, and device details — but none of the sensitive stuff was touched. No chats, API keys, payment data, or credentials were leaked, and regular ChatGPT users weren’t affected at all. OpenAI cut Mixpanel off immediately and is notifying anyone impacted. The real risk now is phishing, since leaked emails can be used for trickier scams. Overall, it’s a reminder that third-party tools can open doors even when the main system stays locked.
OpenAI says it’d totally be down to buy Google Chrome—if the courts ever force Google to sell it. The comment came during a major antitrust trial where the DOJ is trying to break up Google’s dominance in online search. Google’s not having it, insisting Chrome isn’t up for grabs and calling the lawsuit bogus. OpenAI previously tried partnering with Google (no luck), and now it’s riding with Microsoft and Bing. Meanwhile, Google’s flexing Gemini, and OpenAI might even be cooking up its own social network. The AI wars just keep getting juicier.
